The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 2012. The Department offers BCA Program, an inter-disciplinary course having Computer Science taught with Physics and Mathematics. The department has a spacious laboratory with more than 25 computers connected in a LAN, working fully on Linux based open source software. The Department also maintains a well-stocked library of Computer Science books which supplements the wide range of books available in the main library of the College on the subject.
The Department of Computer Science offers programs of study related to computing, information technology and software design and application. Our programs involve interdepartmental, multi-institutional and inter-institutional collaboration and have attracted faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world. Students may pursue full-time or part-time study leading to a Certificate in Computer Science or to B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. degrees. Department Programs The Department currently offers BCA. It also offers a 3-year certificate program in computer science, for training or continuing education. The Department operates a program in cooperative University education in the 3-year degree programs. The practical experience gained may aid the student in choosing future areas of interest. Research Programs Facilities Software and applications are the primary fields of active research within the Department. In the last few years, new equipment, or the upgrading of old equipment, has resulted in state of the art research environments within the department. Department members also have access to supercomputers via the Laboratory for Computational Discovery at the University of Regina. History and Development An undergraduate program in BCA was first offered in 2012.
